Assessment on 2020 Key Project of Science and Technology Service (STS) Network Initiative, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was organized by Chengdu Branch, CAS in Chengdu on June 14^th, 2022. The Project “Key Technology and Demonstration of Intelligent Treatment for Decentralized Rural Sewage” supervised by Prof. Hong Liu was successfully completed and certified by the judges.

STS Network Initiative aims to serve the national economy and plays as a key bridge to connect between regional government, enterprise and CAS for technological cooperation, project demonstration, scale-up and commercialization and professional service. The Key Project of STS Network Initiative supports the great potential of technological commercialization, which has a significant impact on the national and regional economy development.

To reduce maintenance & operation cost based on the characteristics of decentralized wastewater from rural villages (low flux and C/N ratio), this project has illustrated the fundamental of representative technology for treating rural sewage and broke the bottleneck of developing intelligent instrument for monitoring and regulating wastewater treatment. Sulfur autotrophic contact denitrification process has been proposed in this project. In addition, the rapid BOD detection and C/N ratio intelligent regulating apparatus have also been developed. This project has demonstrated not only the enhanced biological denitrification process but also the practical application of intelligent maintenance & cooperation for the rural sewage.
