PhD student Jia Li published a technical paper “Unveiling organic loading shock-resistant mechanism in a pilot-scale moving bed biofilm reactor-assisted dual-anaerobic-anoxic/oxic system for effective municipal wastewater treatment” in Bioresource Technology (IF: 9.642), DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.biortech.2021.126339. In this study, he proposed a pilot-scale moving bed biofilm reactor-assisted dual-anaerobic-anoxic/oxic system to resist organic loading shock from municipal wastewater. He came up with a finding that the integrated D-A2MBBR could optimize the internal/external electron donor supply (one-carbon-dual-use) and enhance the biomass retention capacity under the condition of organic loading rates of 417.9~812.0 g COD m3 d1. The enhanced metabolism of amino acids, carbohydrates and energy promoted simultaneous nitrification, denitrification and synergistic phosphorus removal processes. Prof. Hong Liu is the corresponding author of this paper.
