Associate Professor Fengjun Yin published a technical paper “pH overpotential for unveiling the pH gradient effect of H+/OH- transport in electrode reaction kinetics” in CCS Chemistry, DOI: https://doi.org/10.31635/ccschem.021.202000604. In this study, he proposed a new concept of pH overpotential for the pH gradient effect quantification, and established the electrode reaction equations describing the pH overpotential. pH gradient effect in electrode reaction kinetics was clarified from the intrinsic relationships between pH overpotential and pH gradient. The outcomes of this study can provide the fundamentals of the electrode reactions kinetic in weak acid and base electrolyte medium, and aid a more in-depth understanding of the pH gradient effect in electrode reaction kinetics.
